Fragrance Oil Launch
Twice a year, CandleScience releases 8–16 new fragrance oils, a major event for a company known for its fragrance expertise. Each scent arrives from product development with defined fragrance notes and marketing direction. From there, I create imagery that visually represents and enhances each fragrance’s unique character, ensuring the release resonates with customers and aligns with brand storytelling.

Top Down Product Shots (Top Downs)
Top Down shots were developed to give customers a clear view of a gemstone’s cut, clarity, and scintillation, with a human hand included for scale and context. This format was created in direct response to customer requests for a more accurate visualization of the product. Using a macro lens and an understanding of how gemstones interact with light, I designed and built a custom “Top Down Station.” This setup combined both hard and soft lighting: hard light to capture the sparkle of the stone, and soft light to evenly illuminate the scene.

Social Lifestyles
Social Lifestyle videos showcase products being used in social settings, highlighting their appeal and functionality. Each video is shot with 1x1, 9x16, and 4x5 formats in mind to maximize usability across platforms. Working closely with the creative director and team, I help develop campaigns that ensure stylistic consistency, strong branding, and cohesive storytelling throughout all deliverables.
Vertical Ad Series (Helzberg Request)
Helzberg carries a variety of Charles & Colvard products, and this project involved creating a series of vertical ads for A/B marketing tests. We featured some of our top-selling pieces, pairing them with copy developed by our copywriter and creative director to ensure brand alignment and maximize audience engagement.
Rear Projection Product Shots
Rear projection has been a personal creative hobby that I’ve developed into a professional technique for product photography. After sharing sample concepts with the creative director, the idea quickly gained momentum. This method allows us to place products in settings like a snowy post or a sunny beach without leaving the studio. Success depends on key elements: using believable props that fit the projected background, matching lighting to the image for seamless blending, and carefully balancing all visual factors to create a convincing, immersive scene. Here is a great video on rear projection if you are interested in knowing more!

Live Streaming Studio Build
Shortly after joining Charles & Colvard, we began developing a dedicated live streaming studio. Drawing on my experience from WRAL, I played a key role in the design, build, and operation of the space. The project spanned roughly 8 months of planning and 6 months of office-space renovation, during which my team, the lead contractor. The studio was equipped with Blackmagic gear, with the 8K ATEM Constellation serving as its core, supported by numerous peripherals. For future scalability, we built in redundancy through an identical control desk capable of operating additional studios.

Cold Open Packages
Cold open packages are short video segments that start the newscast from black, often used to lead with breaking news. These segments are quickly edited together from a variety of sources, including live raw feeds from news helicopters, national news services, viewer submitted video, surveillance video, and footage from reporters and breaking news journalist. We also utilized our extensive video archive to locate relevant historical or contextual footage. The process requires rapid collaboration with producers and other newsroom staff to ensure the package is both visually compelling and journalistically accurate.
